Hideaway Caye

Hideaway Caye is the antithesis of a traditional luxury resort; it is a raw, immersive "un-plugged" experience. Owned and operated by Dustin, Kim, and their daughter Ama, the island is kept in its natural mangrove state with elevated wooden walkways winding through the trees. It is a destination for the true adventurer who dreams of "washing up" on a deserted island that happens to have a cool bar and a resident chef. The island operates entirely off-grid via wind and solar power, emphasizing a deep respect for the surrounding UNESCO-protected reef. Here, luxury is defined by the silence of the mangroves and the ability to spear your own dinner alongside your hosts.

Accommodations & Design The island features a single two-story "treehouse" cabana built from local hardwoods and stilted above the mangroves.

The Living Space: The cabana features floor-to-ceiling windows to invite the Caribbean breeze (no A/C). The upper level houses the sleeping quarters with a queen bed and futon, while the lower level includes a private bathroom.

The Veranda: A spacious wrap-around porch equipped with a double mahogany hammock and chairs, designed for reading and birdwatching.

Aesthetic: Nautical and rustic, the structure is designed to be low-impact, allowing guests to fall asleep to the sound of waves lapping against the stilt foundations.

Amenities & Inclusions The Hideaway Caye experience is uniquely personal and all-encompassing:

The Kitchen & Bar: All meals are included and prepared by Kim, focusing on what was caught that morning (lobster, conch, or snapper). The open-air thatched bar is a social hub for the hosts and visiting yachties (mooring buoys available).

Marine Exploration: Unlimited use of high-quality kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear. The "house reef" starts right at the dock and is home to some of the most vibrant coral formations in Belize.

Nature Immersion: Guided birdwatching for ospreys and herons. Guests often spot dolphins and manatees right from the restaurant deck.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi is available in the bar area during specific hours, though guests are encouraged to remain "checked out."

How Private Is This Island? Privacy at Hideaway Caye is unique—you are the only overnight guests on the island. While the restaurant and bar are open to cruising sailors during the day, your cabana and private dock are tucked away in the mangroves for total seclusion. As night falls and the visiting boats retreat to their moorings, the island belongs entirely to you and the resident family. For travelers seeking a secure, authentic, and high-trust environment where their "neighbors" are more likely to be manatees than humans, Hideaway Caye offers a level of isolation that modern resorts simply cannot replicate.
