Wananavu Beach Resort

Wananavu (meaning "Wonderful" in Fijian) is a boutique resort that avoids the commercial feel of Denarau for a more "Real Fiji" experience. Perched on a dramatic cliffside that spills down to a private sandy lagoon, it serves as the gateway to the Bligh Waters—home to some of the world’s best soft coral diving. The resort is intentionally designed to help guests disconnect, meaning no TVs, telephones, or radios in the bures. Instead, the soundtrack is provided by tropical birds and the rhythmic strumming of guitars during nightly kava ceremonies. It is a destination that balances adventure (PADI Gold Palm diving) with deep relaxation (the cliff-top Wai Spa).

Accommodations & Design The resort features 34 deluxe bures (cottages) and one flagship villa, all using sustainable hardwoods and traditional thatched roofing.

Honeymoon Bures: Situated right on the beachfront, these feature private plunge pools and outdoor showers.

Villa Vanua (Primary Suite): This is the resort's crown jewel. A sprawling 4-bedroom luxury residence that acts as a standalone estate. It features a massive living area, a full kitchen, and a 10-meter private infinity pool. The primary suite within the villa offers panoramic 180-degree views of the Pacific and an en-suite marble bathroom.

Design: Authentic Fijian aesthetic with timber floors, high vaulted ceilings, and large decks designed to capture the trade winds.

Amenities & Inclusions Wananavu is a comprehensive destination for both active and leisure travelers:

Marine & Diving: An on-site PADI dive operation with custom boats specializing in the Bligh Waters. Snorkeling trips to inner and outer reefs depart daily.

Gastronomy: The Wananavu Restaurant specializes in Pacific-fusion cuisine, utilizing fresh seafood and produce from the local Rakiraki markets. The Sunset Bar is the social hub for evening cocktails.

Wellness: The Wai Spa is perched on the hillside, offering traditional Fijian Bobo massages using local nut oils.

Leisure: Two tennis courts, a swimming pool, frisbee golf, and cultural village tours.

How Private Is This Island? Privacy at Wananavu is defined by its "Mainland Island" geography. Located at the end of a long gravel road on a remote headland, there is no through-traffic or public access. The resort’s private beach is shielded by the topography, and the bures are staggered among tropical gardens to prevent line-of-sight between decks. For high-profile groups, the Full Resort Buyout ensures that the entire staff and all facilities are closed to the public. The resort’s private marina and helipad provide secure, discreet entry points for guests who wish to bypass mainland transit entirely.
