Majorsgrund Island

Majorsgrund is a masterclass in sustainable Nordic living, located in what is statistically the sunniest region of Finland. Spanning 5 acres of birch forest and smooth granite shoreline, the island is a completely self-sufficient retreat powered by wind and solar energy. This is a destination for "modern explorers" who want to experience the silence of the archipelago without a heavy environmental footprint. From the traditional wood-fired sauna to the chemical-free water treatment plant, every detail is designed for harmony with the Baltic Sea. It is a premier choice for families and groups who want to experience the "Land of the Midnight Sun" in total, unscripted privacy.

Accommodations & Design The island features two recently renovated traditional log houses and a dedicated sauna house, all emphasizing Scandinavian minimalism and natural materials.

Log House Aurinko (90 sqm): The larger residence, sleeping up to 10. Features a ground-floor master, a loft with six beds, a cozy fireplace, and a large covered terrace with a gas grill.

Log House Meri (65 sqm): A historic 1950s log cabin sleeping up to 6. Includes a light-filled loggia with sea views, a fireplace, and a master bedroom with a children’s bunk bed.

Sauna House (30 sqm): Located near the pier, featuring a wood-fired sauna, a relaxation room (which can sleep 2 additional guests), and an outdoor hot-water shower with ocean views.

Amenities & Inclusions The island is equipped for active exploration and deep relaxation:

Marine Fleet: Rental includes a 4hp motorboat, kayaks, and Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs). The surrounding waters are a haven for pike and perch fishing.

Sustainability: 100% off-grid with solar/wind power and advanced seawater desalination (producing 80L/hour). "Biolan" dry toilets are used throughout to protect the local ecosystem.

Leisure: Features a unique "Reggae Beach Bar" on the sandy shore, a slackline, archery equipment, yoga mats, and a designated campfire area for midsummer celebrations.

Service: Primarily self-catering, though a grocery delivery service or private catering can be arranged for stays of 7 nights or more.

How Private Is This Island? As an exclusive-hire island, there are no other residents or neighbors; the nearest mainland is 750 meters away, invisible enough to provide a sense of total isolation. The island’s location within the Kvarken Archipelago ensures that the only visitors are the local wildlife and the occasional passing sailboat in the distance. For high-profile guests or those seeking a "digital detox," the island serves as a secure, gated-style fortress where the only schedule is the setting of the sun—which, in peak summer, barely happens at all.
